Privacy Statement

Freunde der Kunsthalle e. V. has been operating the Hamburger Kunsthalle Museum Shop since its foundation. With the online shop, we also want to offer guests from outside the opportunity to purchase catalogues and products relating to the Hamburger Kunsthalle.

The protection of your personal data is important to us.

We ensure that we collect and save only the required data. The basis for this are Articles 6 (1) (b) and 1 (f) of the General Data Protection Regulation.

We require your provided data (name, address, if applicable, email address and account or credit card number) for fulfilment of contract or to carry out pre-contractual measures. Without this data, we cannot fulfil your order and therefore cannot conclude the contract with you.

This data will not be transmitted to third parties. We only transfer credit card or account data to the processing bank or payment service provider for debiting the purchase price, address data to the transport or shipping company commissioned by us for delivery of the goods and the required booking data to our tax advisor for fulfilment of our tax obligations.

If you cancel the order process or if a contract is not successfully concluded for other reasons, your data will be deleted immediately.

If a contract is concluded, data from the contractual relationship is stored until expiration of the tax retention period (10 years).

Cookies

A cookie is a small file that we transfer to your computer when you browse our online shop. A cookie can only contain information that we send to your computer; private data cannot be read. If you accept the cookies on our pages, this does not give us access to your personal information; we can only use the cookies to identify your computer.

We use cookies to help you to place orders in and manage your shopping cart during your session and to improve the user experience.

The cookies used as a result of these measures do not contain any personal data and do not allow this to be assigned to you as a natural person in any way. Cookies are only used to identify the computer you use for as long as the cookies are not deleted or delete themselves as a result of reaching the end of their specified operating life.

Data security

Freunde der Kunsthalle places great importance on data security and therefore regularly checks the working environment and the technical and organisational requirements with regard to security of the data entrusted to us.

We would nevertheless like to point out that data transmission across the internet via email can have security flaws. Complete data protection against unauthorised access by third parties cannot be guaranteed.

Our email traffic is handled by the administration for the federal state of Hamburg’s information and communication service provider (“Dataport”), which is a public law institution.

We use a TLS certificate (GeoTrust RCA) on our websites to encrypt all incoming data. (Transport Layer Security, TLS for short, is a hybrid encryption protocol for secure data transmission, which is more widely known under name of its predecessor Secure Sockets Layer, or SSL for short). You can tell that our website is secure because our web addresses begin with “HTTPS”.

Your rights

According to the German Federal Data Protection Act (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz) you have the right to information about your stored personal data and, if necessary, to rectification, blocking or deletion of the data. If you believe that the processing of your data violates the Data Protection Act or your data protection claims have been violated, you can complain to the relevant regulatory authority. In our case, this would be the Hamburg Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (HmbBfDI).
